![]() 1928 Al Capp is the youngest syndicated cartoonist with his Colonel. Second title has small music store ink stamp at lower right of front cover, third title has small tan mark at lower right corner from price sticker removal, fourth title has several inside lyrics added in lead pencil by original owner. There are no streets named after Capps famous comic-strip characters Daisy Mae, Shmoo or Sadie Hawkins, to name a few. Twelve years later he lost most of his right leg in a streetcar accident, an event which did not interrupt his. Capp was born Alfred Gerald Caplin in New Haven, Connecticut, on September 28, 1909. Art is based on the Al Capp and Bob Lubbers “Long Sam” comic strip. Creator of 'Li'l Abner,' one of the most popular comic strips of all time, Al Capp (1909-1979) was also a satirist of remarkable talent. It had 60 million daily readers in more than 1000 newspapers in 28 countries. ![]() Lil Abner and Daisy Mae find their world turned upside down by famous artist Eric Travers and his painting. All are 9x12" w/ page count ranging from four to six. From 1934 to 1977, Al Capp wrote the most-read comic strip in North America, Li’l Abner, about hillbillies in the fictional town of Dogpatch, Kentucky.
